When a powerful company or institution brings its full weight down on someone who did everything right, there is only one place left to turn. Not a politician, not a government board, but a lawyer with the will to fight and the skill to win.

Bettina Altizer became that lawyer because she could not stand to watch insurance companies, corporations, and the system itself take advantage of people who had no one else in their corner. Bettina simply loves righting wrongs.  She decided to become a lawyer at the age of three and never once wavered. Today she is the founder and president of Altizer Law, P.C., in Roanoke, serving Virginia.  For more than thirty years, she has been the one Virginians turn to when the powerful have wronged them and only a lawyer can make them whole.

What she does for them is patient and exacting. She listens before anything else, because she cannot fight for what she does not yet understand. She gathers the records, follows the medical care, and assembles the full story of what an injury has cost a person, not only the bills and the lost paychecks, but the losses that are harder to measure, the pain, the missed moments, the future that now looks different. Then she proves it. Bettina presses the claim hard, and when the other side refuses to do right, she is the trial lawyer who carries that story to a jury and makes twelve strangers see it the way she does.

She is not someone the other side hopes to find across the table. Long before she was a champion in the courtroom, she was one on the platform, a five-time world champion powerlifter and a member of the USA Powerlifting Women’s Hall of Fame, once regarded as the strongest drug-free lifter in the world for her size, a woman who routinely out-lifted opponents twice her size. The insurance companies and corporations she faces are far bigger than she is, too. It has never once mattered. She brings that same refusal to quit to every client she represents.

None of it is for show. A graduate of the University of Virginia and its School of Law, Bettina learned the work beside her father before carrying it forward under her own name, and she was named Best Attorney in The Roanoke Times 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards. Bettina was also honored with the Woman of the Year by the esteemed Society of Women Trial Lawyers in 2025.  But the words she values most come from the people she has represented, who describe being treated like family, kept informed at every step, and never once made to feel like a case number.
